I am in the real estate business in Taos, having been a lawyer in my first life on the East Coast before that. I know how business ought to be conducted and I know what a builder ought to do for his or her clients. In my practice, I have come to know Craig Simmons, his work ethic, his integrity, his pride and his word, and all are as good as it gets.

I think the key to Craig is that he is an artist at heart. (Do ask him to show you his paintings.) He approaches each project not as an opportunity to make money, but rather as the chance to make beauty, to create something special, something that the clients yearn for.

The highest compliment I can give Craig is that I recommended him to our son and daughter-in-law, who couldn’t be more pleased. They got what was promised, when it was promised, and are tickled with their choice of builders.

From here on out, I will only recommend Craig Simmons and urge all to meet the man before committing to anyone else. Anyone else.

Craig Simmons, owner of EcoBuilders, Inc., is a talented builder who pays attention to the little things. Our home is now two years old and we could not be happier. It is beautiful and well-constructed, with extensive extras. Many of the extras are planet-friendly, including passive solar, plenty of windows, and preparation for adding solar panels and a gray-water return. We have owned several homes prior to this one and Craig is by far the most conscientious builder with whom we have worked.

This past year we had EcoBuilders replace all of the wood casement windows and south facing doors on our Taos house with metal clad units. The job included removing the exterior wood sills, fairing in the stucco wall to window junctions and fairing in the interior wet plaster wall to window junctions. The work was performed over summer, while we were absent; and we left the house “as is,” making no attempt to put the furnishings in storage.

On our return this winter, we found the house to be in excellent condition, cleaned and with everything in place as we had left it, with the new windows add greatly a well maintained house appearance. This without any in-progress supervision on our part.

We are greatly pleased with the work performed by Ecobuilders and their conscientious performance; and recommend them highly to anyone looking for those qualities.
